On-site:

  • All work must be completed at the physical restaurant location. There is no option for remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and seat guests in a warm and welcoming manner
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
  • Serve meals and drinks in a timely and professional manner
  • Clear and clean tables, maintaining a tidy dining area
  • Assist in food preparation and plating as needed
  • Process payments and handle cash transactions accurately
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries and concerns
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, daily specials, and allergen information
  • Upsell menu items and promote restaurant specials
  • Ensure proper table settings and dining room presentation
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures

Tasks:

  • Memorize and explain menu items, specials, and wine pairings to guests
  • Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems to process orders and payments
  • Restock service areas with utensils, condiments, and napkins
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down dining areas for service
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings and ongoing training sessions
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of restrooms during shifts
  • Coordinate with hosts/hostesses to manage seating and table turnover
  • Assist with inventory counts and restocking supplies

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in food service or customer-facing roles is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating bills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
  • Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Smart Serve certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of POS systems and basic computer skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • Positive attitude and professional appearance

  • Visual acuity to read orders and menus in dim lighting conditions

Certifications:

  • Food Handler’s Certificate (required within 30 days of hire)
  • Smart Serve certification (asset)
  • First Aid and CPR certification (asset)

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: The role of a Food Service Attendant involves working in a dynamic restaurant environment. You must be comfortable with extended periods of standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
