Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and seat guests in a warm and welcoming manner
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
- Serve meals and drinks in a timely and professional manner
- Clear and clean tables, maintaining a tidy dining area
- Assist in food preparation and plating as needed
- Process payments and handle cash transactions accurately
- Respond promptly to guest inquiries and concerns
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, daily specials, and allergen information
- Upsell menu items and promote restaurant specials
- Ensure proper table settings and dining room presentation
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
Tasks:
- Memorize and explain menu items, specials, and wine pairings to guests
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems to process orders and payments
- Restock service areas with utensils, condiments, and napkins
- Assist in setting up and breaking down dining areas for service
- Participate in pre-shift meetings and ongoing training sessions
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of restrooms during shifts
- Coordinate with hosts/hostesses to manage seating and table turnover
- Assist with inventory counts and restocking supplies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food service or customer-facing roles is an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating bills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
- Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Smart Serve certification is an asset
- Knowledge of POS systems and basic computer skills
